Presented for the 25th time, Fest Afrika brings together concerts, dance, workshops and African culture. The week-long programme features music, dance and shared cultural experiences.
What is Fest Afrika?
Fest Afrika festival has been held annually in Tampere since 2002. Welcome to celebrate the festival’s 25th anniversary in July 28.7.-2.8.2026!
The main aim of the festival is to highlight African performing arts and culture in a diverse way. Our goal is to support African arts and make African cultures known, as well as to enable encounters between people of African descent and others interested in African culture living in Finland. We bring people from different backgrounds together to learn and enjoy themselves and support multiculturalism and cultural encounters in Finland. We aim to keep the festival accessible providing part of the program free of charge for the public and giving opportunities to volunteer.
Festival programme includes concerts, dance and other performing arts, dance and music workshops, programme for children and families, an African market event, seminars and exhibitions. We also cooperate with various organizations.
The performers and workshop teachers are professionals of African music and dance, mainly from Finland and the Nordic countries. But we also aim to bring internationally renowned African artists to the festival.
At the end of 2023, Fest Afrika received the “Bronze Panther” recognition from Villa Karo for supporting and employing African artists in Finland.
More information about the festival programme will be updated on the website during the spring.
