Fest Afrika Spring Jam 25.4.2026
This year’s Fest Afrika kicks off on Saturday, April 25, 2026, with Spring Jam.
In the Spring Jam dance workshop, participants will get to dance the Tanzanian Sogota dance led by Julia and Ally Milao. The evening party at Spring Jam will feature fresh music from the Tampere-based group Maajo as the main act. In addition, the night will be energized and uplifted by MC Enoch Gyasi, DJ Nelokuata, and DJ Mira. Spring Jam will take place at Restaurant Semafori in Tampere.

Sogota is an energetic, humorous, and fast‑paced traditional dance of the Sukuma people of northern Tanzania, in which dancers imitate colonial-era soldiers. The class features live drumming, and in addition to dancing, participants will also sing traditional songs.

Sisi Majitu – Ally ja Julia Milao
Ally Milao is a dancer and drummer born and raised in Tanzania’s arts capital, Bagamoyo. Julia Milao graduated from the Bagamoyo College of Arts in 2012 with dance as her major. Together, they founded Sisi Majitu, a group built around Tanzanian dances and rhythms.
In Finland, Sisi Majitu Finland ry has been active since 2015, offering performances as well as dance and drumming classes both in their hometown Jyväskylä and around the country.

Maajo
Maajo’s music blends equatorial rhythms with northern atmospheres. They combine organic percussion, electronic textures, and natural soundscapes into a warm and imaginative whole.
The performance also serves as the album release show for Maajo’s Water of Life Dance Dubs!

MC Enoch
Enoch Gyasi is an energetic MC and a creator of cultural connections, known for his unmatched energy. Whenever he steps on stage, he builds an immediate and strong connection with the audience. Living in Finland but deeply rooted in his Ghanaian heritage, Enoch has earned a reputation as a dynamic host who can read the atmosphere, excite diverse crowds, and keep the vibe high from start to finish.
At Fest Afrika Spring Jam, Enoch Gyasi serves as the evening’s master of ceremonies, bringing his own contribution to the celebration of African culture, sound, and communal spirit.

DJ Mira
Drawing from the vibrant rhythms of Côte d’Ivoire and now based in Helsinki, DJ Mira blends African energy with international influences, bringing the best amapiano, afrobeats, coupé-décalé, and afrohouse sounds to the dance floor.
